Spain 🇪🇸 confirms first monkeypox death in Europe

Spain reported on Friday its first monkeypox-related death, El Mundo and ABC newspapers reported, quoting the Spanish Health Ministry.

Earlier on Friday, Brazil reported the first monkeypox related death outside the African continent in the current outbreak, a 41-year-old man who, according to the health ministry, also suffered from lymphoma and a weakened immune system.

In its most recent report in its most recent report, the Spanish Health Ministry said 4,298 cases were confirmed across Spain. Of the 3750 patients it could provide information on, it noted that 120 were hospitalized, which amounts to 3.2 percent of the population – while one person has died but did not provide further information.
